dat PIII 866MHz, 128mb RAM, 6GB HD, Creative Sound Blaster 128 PCI, ATI RADEON 9200 64mb... it’s gonna be a nice Win98 box. Ordered moar RAM + bigger and faster HD for it too. It needed some cleaning.

I used a mixture of Comet + hand soap + water and an old toothbrush to help de-yellow the case. It also helped a lot with removing the marks and scuffs. To finish off the job, I used fine sand paper on the scratches and whatever remaining marks.

It’s not perfect but a lot better than what it was before.

Too damn hot and probably too much power draw for that old box. I had both but always preferred my 9700's so much more overhead on them to be used!

I didn’t feel like spending more than $10-12 on a gfx card for something this old.

Nice! It certainly cleaned up well.

A friend of mine has one of each of the four GX110 form factors (except for the midsize chassis that you have). He’s quite fond of them. I am, too. They are very nice, well built computers (most of the Dells from the era were).

Dell in the mid 90s to early 2000s really made quality stuff. My father has an XPS 8700 and it just feels so cheap compared to this. GX1s and GX110s were the shit.

They really did (mostly; the L600r and GX110 small form-factor we have laying around, not so much). It’s hit or miss with anything newer than ~’02.

The GX110s are awesome computers, though, I still like my Precision 220...

Yeah I also liked the Dimension XPS D/R/T line. Those were fantastic.

I owned one... I still don’t understand.

LOL... actually I do understand... just want to be contrary.

Do you have a nice period-correct 17" CRT monitor to go with it?
